Practice Presentation Room

Location: The Commons @ Hodges Library

Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 10am - 6pm; Friday - Saturday: 1-5pm (Training)
Monday - Sunday: 8:00am-10:00pm (Room Reservations)

The Practice Presentation Room within the Commons provides facilities for UTK students, faculty, and staff to practice a presentation in a realistic environment. These facilities may also be used for meetings requiring the use of a SMART Sympodium and projector, a SMART Board interactive display, or to conduct a videoconference. When not reserved for training or practice, the room is available on a first-come-first served basis.

The Office of Information Technology provides these services within the Commons as an extension to the equipment available in their Technology Enhanced Classrooms throughout the UTK campus.

The Practice Presentation Room includes:

• A SMART Sympodium, which is an interactive pen display mounted within the podium, a document camera, and a DVD-VCR combo.
• A mobile codec videoconferencing system with a 40 inch LCD monitor, speakers, and a stereo amplifier is also available.

The Innovative Technology Consulting Student Technology Assistants for Research and Teaching (START) is available to assist all UTK students, faculty, and staff in using the equipment. The Practice Presentation Room may be reserved up to two weeks in advance.

To schedule SMART Board or Videoconferencing training or to reserve the Practice Presentation Room, you will need to complete the reservation form.

You will need to bring your personal laptop computer or check out a computer from The Commons. You will need to install the SMART Board software onto any personal laptop computer you will be connecting to the Sympodium or the SMART Board. Download the software via the appropriate link below.
